Saturday School

A unique tradition of FIS, Saturday School activities started a few years ago when few teachers volunteered to run remedial classes. Elementary and secondary students who are in need of additional help in building language (both oral and written), math and science skills enjoy extended activities and get ready for exams at the same time. In addition to Saturday School, Language programs also allow students to experience cultures and be aware of varying issues. The program is also a fun avenue for students to learn and socialize with friends in other grades.

FIS currently offers three sessions of Mathematics, Science and Turkish lessons for secondary school students.

Home Visitation Program

The home visitation program has been held for two to three times a year since FIS was founded. The goal of the program is to have better communication between teachers, students and parents. Under the program, teachers visit homes of students to discuss school status and matters with their parents.

Varsity Activities

Students' love for sports is determined through a battle of endurance, stamina, physical fitness and teamwork with different varsity activities.

Every month of March, FIS holds its biggest event, the International Festival of Language and Culture to showcase the students’ diverse country cultures.

In celebration of academic and environment diversity, FIS raises awareness about various cultures and traditions through immersion and appreciation.

Scholarship Program

FIS scholarship program was started together with its founding day. At present, 30 scholars, both in elementary and high school, are now fully provided by FIS to help them succeed in their academic endeavor.

14 of the scholars are from Tacloban and 16 are from Manila. After visiting Tacloban, the aftermath of typhoon Yolanda was evident, especially academic institutions. FIS had students in the vicinity take a test, and invited 14 qualified students to pursue scholarship in Manila.

The scholarship program is not only based in academics, talent also plays a factor during assessment.

Overnight Program

Held two days every term, the overnight program promotes bonding between Alumni and current students. During the activity, girls and boys will have separate rooms.

College Counseling

College is an important academic milestone for each student. To guarantee that students will be placed in the right course relevant to their skill set and subject expertise, FIS offers online and face to face college counseling with parents to discuss possible course tracks suitable for their child.

The school’s method of college counselling is considered to be the best in the country.
